Beauty Of India “Taj Mahal”

Taj Mahal as the name signifies “Crown of the palace”. It is really a crown of India or we can say proud of India. It is one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage and of course among the “New 7 Wonders Of The World”. The Iconic Taj Mahal is among the top most places on the world heritage map.

Everyone knows that it is a symbol of love of “Shah Jahan” to his beloved wife “Mumtaz Mahal”. It was believed to be completed by 1653 at the cost estimated 32 million rupees at that time. 20,000 artisans are supposed to be associated with the tomb.

It’s a myth that Shah Jahan cut off the hands of all the workers so that such a structure could not be built again. Some stories claim that those constructors signed contracts not to be a part of any similar design. The dome of the Taj Mahal is often called an onion dome or amrud(guava) dome. The top is decorated with a lotus design followed by “finial”, which is a mix of traditional Persian and Hindustani decorative elements.

The tomb is the central focus of the complex. The grave of the Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan is actually at the lower level of the chamber house.

Taj Mahal is surrounded by lush Persian Gardens. The style of the garden is Persian Timurid.

The Taj Mahal complex is bordered on three sides by crenellated red sandstone walls, the side facing the river is open. A great building next to the Taj Mahal is “Jawab Masjid”.
